Morning Keynote

Dr. Katie Moisse is a science journalist teaching science communication at McMaster University. Her stories have appeared in Scientific American, The Transmitter and The Atlantic. She was Digital Health Editor for ABC News, leading the network’s national online coverage of outbreaks and other important health stories. She has a Ph.D in pathology from the University of Western Ontario, an M.Sc. in neuroscience from King’s College London and an M.Sc. in journalism from Columbia University. Dr. Moisse’s research examines the role of the media in shaping perceptions about health and science as well as accessibility in higher education.
Afternoon Keynote

Dr. Margaret Mutumba is a global health innovator, scholar, and advocate with over a decade of expertise in reproductive health and fertility care in Sub-Saharan Africa.
As a WHO Consultant on Human Reproduction and Director of the Frugal Biomedical Innovations Program / Adjunct Research Professor at Western University, she develops culturally tailored, affordable medical technologies to advance health equity in underserved communities.
She is the Co-Founder of MedAtlas, a digital health platform transforming access to specialist care in Africa, and her leadership has been recognized with awards such as the WomenLift Health Leadership Scholarship and the Uganda Diaspora Impact Award.
Dr. Mutumba also serves on the boards of impactful organizations, including the Nnabageereka Development Foundation, and has co-chaired the Canadian Conference for Global Health. With a Ph.D. in Public Health Sciences and research spanning women’s health, reproductive advocacy, and health equity, she is committed to bridging innovation and impact for a healthier, more equitable world.
